Automobile & Touring Club of Nigeria (ATCN) is the sole representative of the Federation International de l'Automobile (FIA) which is the sole world governing body for motorsport and motoring. ATCN represents its sport (Motorsport)  and Mobility operations in Nigeria. This means that, ATCN is vested with the power to Sanction all motorsport events and campaigns for Road safety in Nigeria in accordance with the FIA Statutes and Regulations.

 

Since the establishment of the Club in 2009, we have been duly assigned various opportunities to carryout effective and productive campaigns in different States of Nigeria and have had the opportunity and privilege to host the 3rd FIA African Sport Regional Congress at Transcorp Hilton in August, 2017 in Abuja, where the future of motorsport in Africa was discussed and delegates were trained specifically on Marshaling and Motorsport Safety. The most current event organized has been the FIA Action for Road Safety in support of the United Nations Road Safety in May, 2019 with the Theme: Savelives: Speakup under the FIA Mobility Arm. Whilst under the Sport Arm same year we participated in the Gymkhana International Prize, in Taipei, Taiwan.

Founder ATCN

The Automobile & Touring Club of Nigeria (ATCN), was founded in 2009 by BAMAIYI, Ishaku Bamaiyi who is also it's President. He is a graduate of Economics and Law from Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Nasarawa State and Baze University, Abuja. He is also Called to the Nigerian Bar.

 

He founded this Club with the aim of promoting tourism, campaign for road safety and organise motorsport activities and championships from grassroot level to national, also create opportunities for participation in international events. The opportunity presented itself in 2019 and he led Team Nigeria to take part in the Gymkhana Prix in Taiwan.

 

He has selflessly organised different programmes for ATCN in a bid to acquire eligiblity status as an affiliate to the FIA which in turn guaranteed the inclusion of ATCN, in 2012, to be affiliated with the world governing body for motorsport and motoring for the Mobility Arm of its operations in Nigeria. In 2018 it was delegated the motorsport power to sanction all motorsport activities including licensing of events and drivers for National and International participation (International and National Competition Licenses).

 

His competencies include route design, motorsport safety and marshalling, hillclimbing, also a specialist in Sports and a brilliant lawyer when he has to practice law.

Campaign for Road Safety

 

It became necessary for us to compaign and create awareness for road safety in Nigeria due to the rate of traffic deaths and injuries. With the support of the FIA Action for Road Safety Grants and the assistance of the Federal Road Safety Commission, we have trained over one thousand Nigerians in different States of the nation: Abuja, Ekiti, Kaduna, Niger, Lagos, Enugu, Nasarawa. We also included trainings on First Aid use and applications with our partners, The Red Cross, who put puplils, commercial road transport, training on speed and management programmes etc,

2021 FIA Karting Competition

Happy New Year!

The Automobile and Touring Club of Nigeria would like to welcome you to 2021.

 

We are looking forward to having a better year than last year, and will be keeping you updated with our sporting events soon.

 

We are pleased to announce that we have approved a candidate to participate in the 2021 Karting Academy Trophy Competition, he will be representing the country and the ASN.

 

The candidate is 13 year old Philip J. Gana, he hails from Patigi LGA of Kwara State.

 

He is a motorsport enthusiast and has taken on the mantle to be Nigeria's first ever entrant to the competition.

 

The FIA Karting Academy trophy is an event aimed at highlighting up and coming talent in the racing world, it is unique because it is open to drivers that have not placed in the top 15 of any Karting competition sanctioned by the FIA.

 

The tournament consists of 51 entrants, of which 1 is female, and are nominated by each nations ASN, these boys and girls will be following in the footsteps of Eseban Ocon, Charles Leclerc and George Russel who all started with the Karting Academy trophy event.
